Speaker 4
Thank you, Ms. Jardine, it's a pleasure to serve under your chairship this afternoon. I beg to move that the Supply of Machinery and the EU Machinery Regulation Regulations 2026, which were laid before this House on the 1st of June 2026, be approved. Honourable and right honourable members, I will begin by setting out the background to this instrument. This instrument concerns machinery, which includes a wide range of workplace and consumer products, such as cranes and excavators and leaf blowers and lawnmowers. The current framework for machinery safety, like many other product regulations, is based on EU rules, assimilated into UK law following our departure from the European Union.
