Okay, good evening everyone and welcome to this press conference following today's EU-Ukraine intergovernmental conference.  We're joined by Ireland's Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Vsevolod Chentsov, and the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Martha Kos.  I will first give the floor to Minister Byrne, please.

Intervenant 3
Today we demonstrate our Union's continued commitment to enlargement and to Ukraine's future in our European Union family.  In this, the fourth accession conference with Ukraine, the Council opened cluster two on internal market and cluster three on competitiveness and inclusive growth.  I am pleased to announce this important milestone for Ukraine's accession process together with the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Vsevolod Chentsov, and Commissioner for EU Enlargement, Martha Kos.  These are the third and fourth clusters that the EU has opened with Ukraine, following the opening of cluster one on fundamentals in June and cluster six on external relations in July.  We welcome the continued momentum on Ukraine's candidacy, now the majority of clusters are open, following a prolonged period without movement.
01:52 - 02:37
Intervenant 5
I've said it before, but it needs repeating, that despite Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, against its civilians, against its civilian infrastructure, Ukraine continues somehow to implement the reforms needed to align their national legislation with EU acquis.  That requires incredible effort and commitment from the Ukrainian government, the Ukrainian parliament, and the Ukrainian people.  It is remarkable, and it adds to the responsibility that we feel as presidency holders to do all that we can to support Ukraine's EU accession journey.  Today is a positive day for Ukraine's EU accession process.  All EU member states recognize Ukraine's implementation of key reforms in two major policy areas.
02:37 - 03:16
Intervenant 3
Cluster two on internal market is the economic backbone of the accession process.  This cluster comprises nine technical chapters which govern the integration of a candidate country into the single market.  Cluster three on competitiveness and inclusive growth, meanwhile, relates to the socio-economic development engine of the EU accession process.  This cluster comprises eight chapters designed to align a candidate country's economy with EU standards.  The progress we are securing today also sends an important message to the citizens of Ukraine who are fighting for European values of freedom, democracy, and equality.
