The Chair opens the EU–Israel Delegation meeting, adopts the agenda and frames the debate around EU–Israel relations, the regional situation after 7 October, Lebanon and Gaza. Halperin presents Israel’s post‑7 October security doctrine, Lebanon/Hezbollah ceasefire issues, the Gaza 20‑point peace plan and conditions for Hamas’ removal from power, prospects for a reformed Palestinian Authority and upcoming Israeli elections, while Janacek sets out the EU’s policy baseline, including support for Israel’s security, implementation of UNSCR 2803, PA reform conditionality and CSDP missions.

So, dear colleagues, we are seven minutes late, but we have a big room, so I tried to figure you out. Thanks for coming. I'm very glad that we have a prominent speaker today with us. But first, of course, we have to do the formalities. This is an official meeting of the delegation EU-Israel, so I ask you if you can adopt the agenda with me.

I don't see any no's. So we'll have today an exchange of views on EU-Israel relations, very general, with Simona Halperin. She's the Deputy Director General and the head of Europe Division in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You took up your office, your function, like half a year ago, so most welcome to Brussels, to the European Parliament. And we have with us Mr. Janecek, which everybody knows, I think.

Thanks a lot for being with us. He's head of division in DG MENA. So we have this exchange of views like a regular dialogue. I don't want to do so much introduction because I think we should spend the time with our speaker. And we are in a pre-election phase, I think everybody is aware of that.

But of course we have ongoing issues in EU-Israel relations which we want to discuss in depth, also maybe the issue of the rising antisemitism in Europe, your view on that, the ongoing peace process, if you want also Lebanon. So I give you a free hand what you want to give us as information. And without further ado, I would give you the floor, Mrs. Halperin. Most welcome here in this room. We have here one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten colleagues, ten MEPs, and most of them are also members of the EU-Israel delegation.
