Environmental Audit Committee House of Commons

Speaker 3
Order, order.  Well, welcome everybody to this special session of the Environmental Audit Committee where I'm pleased to say we will be following up on the session that we had a few weeks ago on the national security assessment on biodiversity loss.  We, following that, invited ministers from Department for the Environment, from the Cabinet Office and the Foreign Office to join us.  One out of three I wouldn't say is bad, but it's what we got anyway.  And we're delighted to have Minister Mary Creagh.

Thank you very much for coming along.  Also to have Ros Eales here from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and also to senior figures from Department for the Environment who I will encourage to introduce themselves.  So thank you very much all of you for joining us.  So if I could start by just asking you to introduce yourself and, and of course any involvement that you had in the putting together of the national security assessment.  If we could start with yourself please, Ms Ledward.

Thank you.  I'm the International Biodiversity and Climate Director at Defra, with responsibility for all our kind of overseas development spending, our negotiations and our analytical and science work on international biodiversity.
