National Security Strategy (Joint Committee) Actual start House of Lords
07:01 - 07:58
Speaker 1
Order, order. Good afternoon and welcome to the Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy. Our chair, Matt Western, is unable to be with us today, so with the committee's agreement, I've taken the chair for this session.
Today we're holding a one-off session on AI and quantum computing in the national security context, and we have an expert panel with us today. We are likely to be disrupted by votes in the House of Lords, and that means we will, there'll be moments or periods when, short periods when we aren't quorate. So what I'll have to do is suspend the session briefly for that until colleagues return, and then we'll just resume where we left off. Thank you for bearing with us with that. But if we can start, may I ask the witnesses just briefly to introduce themselves, and we'll start, why don't we go right to left from where I'm sitting?
So Professor Payne, why don't we start with you?
