Science and Technology Committee Actual start House of Lords
16:00 - 16:53
Speaker 1
Good morning.
Welcome to the Select Committee on Science and Technology. We are continuing our inquiry on innovation in the NHS, personalised medicines and AI. We're very pleased this morning to have as our first witness Professor Jonathan Benger, who's Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, NICE. So, Professor Benger, thank you for coming.
By way of introduction, could you explain NICE's core responsibilities as well as its role in supporting the NHS to adopt innovative technologies and medicines, particularly in the areas of personalised medicines and AI that, as you know, our inquiry is focusing on? Would you like to start?
16:53 - 16:59
Speaker 2
Of course. Thank you, Lord May, and thank you to the committee for giving me the opportunity to give evidence. I'm delighted to do so.
