Justice and Home Affairs Committee Actual start House of Lords
20:55 - 21:53
Speaker 1
I'll just apologize while we go through it. Order, order, the meeting is now being recorded and public proceedings are beginning.
And welcome everybody to this very first public evidence session on support for jurors, an inquiry we've been looking forward to and know that there's quite a lot of good ideas out there based on much of the evidence we've already received in writing. And we're grateful to both of our current witnesses for already having written to us. As I explained earlier, we may well go over some of the points that you've raised, but that gives us an opportunity to sort of have further questions about points you may have made. But before we begin, can I ask you each to just introduce yourself? If you'd like, and are you happy to be just called by your first names?
That'd be great. Okay, please, would you like to start off?

Speaker 2
Yep, so my name is Dr Hannah Fawcett. I'm a senior lecturer in psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University. And I've spent the last 20 years researching jury service, juror decision-making and juror well-being and the impact of jury service on well-being.
