International Development Committee House of Commons
00:05 - 01:16
Speaker 2
This is the International Development Select Committee's one-off session on the humanitarian situation in Yemen. We repeatedly as a committee come back to this topic because the humanitarian situation out there is truly horrendous. It's been going on for over a decade now and unfortunately it gets very, very little attention. I think part of that is the short attention span of the media. They like a crisis and this is an ongoing protracted disaster.
But also it is literally hidden largely as this session will show because it is very difficult to get current information out into the public domain. All of that said, we're very fortunate to be joined by a number of witnesses today that we'll separate into two panels. And first of all, we've got Mr. Kadir here in the room. Our other witnesses are virtual. But Mr. Kadir, if I could ask you to introduce yourself and your organization, please.

Okay, thank you very much, honorable MP and honorable members of the International Development Committee. It is really great honor and a privilege to stand today in front of you. I am Al-Khidir Daloum. I am the representative of World Food Programme in Yemen. We are working in Yemen for the last over three decades and we are honored also to have long-lasting partnership with the UK government and UK people.
And so thank you very much and I'm really grateful to be here with you.
