Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee Actual start House of Commons
18:15 - 19:31
Speaker 1
Order, order. Good morning everybody and welcome to this meeting of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee. We return today to our inquiry into climate adaptation and emergency response.
And given that we're sitting here with an amber warning today and red weather warnings for tomorrow and Thursday, it has turned out to be seasonal and timely. As you will know, there are normally expectations about the standards of dress in Parliament. I, however, as chair, have some discretion and I will exercise that discretion in the favor of comfort. So please, if you want to take off your jacket, tie, well, within the boundaries of decency, we can exercise that discretion.
Welcome to the Select Committee. Just for the benefit of our own official record and for those who might be following our proceedings, can I invite you all please to introduce yourselves to the committee? Rob, we'll start with, or Professor Howard Boyd, then Emma, can we start with you?
19:31 - 19:43
Speaker 4
Well, thank you, thank you. And I feel like a living manifestation of the heatwave. I've just come over from the City of London and the, the, the tube isn't working, so I've had to walk. I'm Emma Howard Boyd. I am chair of the National Heat Risk Commission.
