Administration Committee Actual start House of Commons

Speaker 1
Morning, welcome to our general election planning inquiry today where we've got witnesses who are staff members across the House who've kindly offered to provide evidence.  Welcome to those colleagues and thank you for attending our Administration Committee's second session of its inquiry into general election planning.  We welcome our witnesses who I will invite to introduce themselves in a few moments.  We're grateful to each staff member for coming to the committee today to speak about their experiences of training and guidance they received when they were new and how they've helped members set up their offices.  Our witnesses have varied backgrounds.

Some were recruited after the last election, others have worked for more than one member and have gone through the office winding up process after an election as well.  All of this is of interest to our inquiry.  We did invite other staff members who work for members of different political parties too, but unfortunately due to many and varied pressures, not all were able to accept.  But we will widen out our party input through the course of this inquiry.  So, it's up to me to kick questions off and then colleagues have questions from a list we have to ask of you.

Christine.

Yes, Chair, thank you.  Just for transparency purposes, one of my members of staff is here today, Angus Walker-Stewart.
