Joint Standing Committee on Migration Australian Parliament
14:32 - 14:33
Just the two of us, is it, today?
14:33 - 15:35
Speaker 1
I'm hoping to have one or two more on the video. Sorry to disturb. Ready? Good to go. Okay.
Hopefully it'll work this time. I'll start again. I declare open this public hearing of the Joint Standing Committee on Migration for the inquiry into the value of skilled migration to Australia here in Parliament House in Canberra. I welcome all witnesses appearing before the committee today, as well as members of the public and media in the room and watching online. This is the ninth public hearing for the inquiry.
The committee's so far conducted hearings, public hearings in Canberra, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. And we've been tasked, we've been given the task to look into skilled migration, how we can do it better, what needs to be changed, what your views and thoughts are, and then to come up with recommendations for the minister. We should finish this inquiry before the end of the year, I think, in due in October, November.
