Lock the doors.  The question is the motion be agreed to.  The ayes will pass to the right of the chair and the noes to the left.  I appoint the honourable members for Capricornia and Moncrieff as tellers for the ayes and the honourable members for Werriwa and Bean as tellers for the noes.

Order, the result of the division is Ayes 43, Noes 87.  The matter was resolved in the negative.  And I call the Clerk to return.

The question is that the bill be now read a second time.  And if I can just invite members to take their seats quickly and quietly, we shall go to the next speaker.  The question is the bill be read a second time.  I give the call to the... order, members can take their seats quickly and quietly.  I give the call to the honorable member for Melbourne.

Thank you, Speaker.  I rise to support the Private Health Insurance Amendment (Modernising the Public Health Insurance Rebate) Bill 2026.  This bill is about a clear and simple principle.  Government funding should go where it can make the biggest difference.  At a time when more Australians are living longer, when demand for aged care continues to grow, and when families are seeking better support for aging parents and grandparents, this government is investing more in aged care.
