Women and Equalities Committee House of Commons
00:01 - 01:23
Speaker 4
Good afternoon and welcome to the Women and Equalities Select Committee. Today we're holding our first oral evidence session as part of our inquiry into disability and work. This is a really important area for us and follows on from some of our other equalities areas at work in the workplace. And today I'm really glad that we have a brilliant and large panel with us. We have Clare Ogden, Head of Support Services at Action for ME.
We've got Fazilet Hadi MBE, Head of Policy, Advice and Information at Disability Rights UK. Welcome. And Patricia Stapleton, Senior Policy Manager at Arthritis UK. We've got Alison Thwaite, Head of Employment Services at the Down's Syndrome Association, and James Taylor, Executive Director of Strategy, Impact and Social Change at Scope. Welcome to you all.
We're going to be asking you lots of questions today. If you feel you want to answer in greater detail than we have time for today, you can submit that in written evidence afterwards. And if you leave here thinking, "Oh, I should have said that," same rules apply. You can send it in writing afterwards. So I'm going to hand straight over to Rachel.

Thank you, Chair, and thank you all of you for making it today to join us. It's a very hot day. London has been difficult to navigate today, so we really appreciate your time being here and joining us online. Where we have big panels, it's always difficult. People feel that they need to get in on every question.
