Speaker 2
Okay, well welcome everyone, and I'm extremely pleased to be able today to discuss the UK-Poland security and defense partnership. Extremely, really very, very relevant in terms of timing. Today we released the defense investment plan. We haven't all had a chance to go through it, but clearly this makes this discussion highly topical. I'm very pleased to be joined by Stephen Doughty, the Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories in the FCDO.
Thank you very much for giving us your time. It's hugely appreciated. I know you have to go in about half an hour, and carrying on from that point, Kirsty Hayes, Director for Europe at the FCDO, and to Joanne Hamer at the Euro-Atlantic Security Department in the Ministry of Defence will continue your good work.
So thank you very much indeed. We're joined online by Baroness Lawlor, who has a question, but if I go first, if that's all right. Um, in all honesty, these treaties are very relevant in terms of showing goodwill. Um, there are a lot of powerful words, um, some good rhetoric. We're interested particularly in the detail.
And I was struck when reading the treaty there wasn't a huge amount about actual financial contribution and it'd be interesting to hear in terms of procurement and weapons development and systems development what's actually going to happen then.
