Scottish Affairs Committee House of Commons
00:02 - 00:55
Speaker 4
Good morning and welcome to this meeting of the Scottish Affairs Committee. Today we're looking at connectivity in Scotland, fixed links in particular, and this is a follow-on to a session we had previously where we took evidence from local authorities in the Highlands and Islands particularly. So I'd like to welcome the witnesses to our committee this morning. And if I could begin with a question to all three of you. I think I know the answer to the first part of this question, but just to get it on the record, can you tell me why robust and reliable transport connectivity is important for island and remote communities?
And can you also explain what impact current transport connectivity is having on the region, both socially and economically? Would anyone like to volunteer to start?

Speaker 1
I'm happy to do so.

Thank you, Ms. Lyall.
