Committee House of Commons
00:05 - 00:24
Speaker 4
Welcome to this morning's meeting of the Business and Trade Sub-Committee on Economic Security, Arms and Export Controls. Thank you very much indeed to Lord Coaker, Chris Bryant, Stephen Doughty, together with your officials for joining us today for one of our regular hearings on arms control. Charlie Maynard is going to open the questioning.
00:24 - 00:56
Speaker 5
Thank you, Chair. And good morning, everyone. Thank you for being here. Minister, just following up from our 9th of June conversation, the committee was very heartened by your commitment to transparency, and particularly around delivery information. And really we wanted to go there and just ask, we understand there's some IT issues and all of that, but really where you are with regard to the commitment to implementing a policy of releasing data on actual usage and deliveries under export licenses, please.
00:56 - 01:45
Speaker 2
Yes, so as you know, it's, I fully understand the concern that the committee have had. It is preposterous really that we have, and there are understandable reasons why it's difficult to get to the right statistics and so on. I won't bore the committee members with all of that. We, we've now found a way whereby we will be able to do this properly for the first quarter of 2027. That means that it will come out a bit later than that obviously because we have to set all of that data together, but I can make that commitment that we will for the first quarter of 2027 produce all of that data as, as effectively as we possibly can.
Now, that requires a chunk of work obviously between ourselves and HMRC, but it's important that the public should have the proper information rather than the kind of guestimate.
