Intervenant 1
Okay, we're good to go. Evening everyone, welcome to this press conference following the EU-Moldova intergovernmental conference, joined by Ireland's Minister of State for European Affairs Thomas Byrne, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Moldova Cristina Gherasimov, and the EU Commissioner for Enlargement Márta Kos. And I'll first give the floor to Minister Byrne.

Intervenant 8
Oh, sorry, it's not on, sorry. My voice was loud enough. Today, in what's been another historic day for enlargement following Super Tuesday in July, I'm really happy to have chaired the fourth accession conference with Moldova, together with Commissioner for EU Enlargement Márta Kos and the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Moldova Cristina Gherasimov. We want to mark continued momentum and progress on Moldova's accession process. Following the opening of cluster one in June and cluster six in July, today the Council has secured the opening of two additional clusters with Moldova, cluster two on internal market and cluster three on competitiveness and inclusive growth.
The clusters we are opening today cover key policy areas of the accession process, from the four freedoms of our single market to social policy, taxation, and economic and monetary policy. Alignment across the 17 negotiating chapters they encompass will bring real benefits to Moldova and Moldova's citizens. Since securing candidate status and particularly over the last year, the government of Moldova has made remarkable progress in advancing its accession process, delivering reforms across all negotiating chapters, including those indeed covered by clusters two and three. Moldova's commitment to its EU path and its strategic alignment with our Union and its values is commendable. It's no coincidence that in the 2025 enlargement report, the Commission considered that Moldova had made the greatest one-year progress of all candidate countries, despite facing persistent external hybrid threats.
I'm confident that this year's enlargement report, to be published in the coming weeks, will confirm this positive assessment of Moldova's reform efforts and progress on its European path. As I have had the opportunity to reiterate on several occasions to my Moldovan friends, including the Deputy Prime Minister who was in Dublin a couple of weeks ago, Ireland will continue to work very hard to facilitate the opening of all clusters with Moldova by the end of the year. It's important of course that Moldova continues to implement the necessary reforms and maintains the excellent momentum in its accession process, while the Council will continue its work towards the opening of clusters four and five. Moldova has a friend in the European Union. Moldova's future and the future of Moldovan citizens lie within the European Union.
