International Relations and Defence Committee House of Lords
00:05 - 01:16
Speaker 3
The affair here today is being televised live. You may have noticed on the 10 o'clock news last night that that was featured there as well. Therefore, we're welcoming you to the second session of our inquiry exploring the recommendations, the implementation of the recommendations of the Strategic Defence Review. A transcript will be taken today and we'll send it to you for any small textual corrections that you might have. Members round the table will have to declare any interests in advance of their questions and I've got to say that I have to declare that I am a senior counselor with the Cohen Group, but I'm also, I was also the lead reviewer of the Strategic Defence Review itself.
Perhaps before we start, you might like to introduce the key people that you've brought with you, Mr. Pearce.

Speaker 2
Thank you, Lord Arbuthnot. It's a pleasure to be here and I'm looking forward to an open and transparent engagement on these very important topics. The reason that I've brought some experts with me, but they're a visible manifestation of what the National Armaments Group is, can be when we work together across different disciplines. On my left, Jim Carter, who runs National Armaments Commercial and Industry. He leads our activities with our supply chain, so working on transitioning our supply chain from a more transactional relationship to one that is more of a strategic relationship and making sure our supply chains are resilient and warfighting ready.
On my right, first right, Lieutenant General Anna-Lee Reilly, who runs one of our largest delivery organizations, running hundreds of delivery programs for our military equipment, many of the largest, most complex, most well-known programs like Type 26, Type 31, of course Ajax, huge set of activities. General Anna-Lee also was responsible for leading the MOD into Ukraine and establishing many of the Task Force Kindred capabilities that deliver three million, three billion of capability a year into Ukraine, so is a very good source to talk about that. And on my far right, Avril Jolliffe, who runs the newly coherent organization National Armaments International, where we've gathered together all of our export and government-to-government capabilities to support UK defense exports around the world. She was responsible for leading the best year ever for UK defense exports last year, including some very big deals which I'll let her talk about. And so they're a good example of the diversity of what we do in the NAD Group as it's been newly formed.
