The practical consequence is simple: lining the two up in a raw feature grid, the way you would compare two pieces of software, produces a misleading table. A newsroom of fifty journalists does not belong in the same column as a video search engine, and the reverse is just as true. Contexte is a subscription-based professional news outlet, founded in 2013 and based in both Paris and Brussels. Its about page claims « une rédaction de 50 journalistes, dont 15 basés au cœur des institutions européennes » — a newsroom of 50 journalists, 15 of them at the heart of the EU institutions — and an advertising-free business model: « L'intégralité du capital appartient à l'équipe. L'intégralité des revenus provient des abonnés. » According to Contexte, « chaque matin, 15 000 lecteurs prennent une longueur d'avance avec Contexte » (about.contexte.com, retrieved 31 July 2026).
What you buy from Contexte first is produced information: daily briefings, analysis, and documents the newsroom obtains itself — « Avant-projet de loi, notes interministérielles, rapports confidentiels... Obtenez des informations et documents exclusifs avant tout le monde. » No software manufactures that. It is journalism, and it is the first reason public affairs teams subscribe.
Polyfact produces no information. We collect public sources — the Assemblée nationale, the Sénat, Légifrance and the official journal, French regulators and independent authorities, EU institutions, the press and X — and make them searchable, summarisable and quotable. As of 31 July 2026, 60 institutions and sources are connected out of 489 catalogued, across ten countries where we already collect. No newsroom here, no scoops, no contact book.
That asymmetry is the key to reading this whole page. A Contexte subscription and a Polyfact subscription are not mechanical substitutes for one another: they overlap on the tooling layer — bill tracking, amendments, alerts, transcripts — and diverge completely upstream, on the journalism, and downstream, on data depth and automation.
What Contexte Scan covers, according to its public materials
“Scan” is the historical name of Contexte's legislative monitoring tool, still visible in the URLs of the scan.contexte.com subdomain; on contexte.com the tool is now presented under the heading « Veille législative », in the « Outils & ressources » menu (retrieved 31 July 2026). What we did not find in their public materials
Two things do not appear in the public pages we read on 31 July 2026: a co-signature graph or an influence score inside the directories; and social media monitoring. Status: not publicly mentioned.
That wording is deliberate and we hold to it across the site. “Not publicly mentioned” is not an assertion of absence: it is the state of Contexte's public communication on that date. The tool may well offer these functions without documenting them online, and a sales demo remains the only reliable way to check.

When to choose Contexte Scan
If what your team needs first is to understand — why an arbitration flipped, what a ministerial cabinet is preparing, what is at stake in a trilogue — a specialist media outlet does work no software platform does. On that ground Contexte has three clear strengths, and it would be dishonest to play them down.

In practice: choose Contexte if the daily briefing and political reading are your number one need, if your subject is mostly European, or if you want to equip an entire organisation rather than a handful of analysts. When to choose Polyfact
Choose Polyfact if your problem is not understanding the news but missing nothing and being able to prove everything. On a sensitive bill, several hundred amendments can land overnight: no human reads them all before the next morning's meeting. That is where automatic grouping of identical provisions, AI-qualified impact and Excel export change an analyst's day.
Choose Polyfact, too, when the evidence is video. A useful point for procurement: a subscription priced per organisation and a subscription priced per scope of use cannot be compared on a per-seat basis. Ask for both proposals on the same real scope — number of users, verticals or files followed, length of commitment — otherwise the comparison is mathematically meaningless.
